Chelsea Market & Cafe

We celebrated T's birthday at Chelsea Market and Cafe in Serendra.  T, always on a look out for great deal and bargains, was able to buy coupons from Cashcashpinoy.  She got 7 coupons of P470 for P1000, that's a 53% saving on food and drinks!

These are some of the things we ordered.

Grandma's Crispy Duck Confit and Mushroom Risotto, P575

I was looking forward to this when someone from our group, who ate ahead, gave such glowing reviews.  I loved the mushroom risotto which was creamy and rich.  Unfortunately, I found the duck too dry, hard and a bit gamey.

The spaghetti and garlic bread was ordered from the kid's menu.

I liked this especially with the greens.

Grilled US Scallops Aglio Oglio Linguine, P695 

We found the grilled scallops too salty.

Hickory Smoked Baby Back Ribs, full slab, P1100

I only took a bite of this to just try it out and the piece that I got was unfortunately dry.

Jalapeno Cheddar and Emmental Fondue,good for 6, P880

Now this dish gave us the most problem.  When the fondue came, the fire was so high that we were afraid that the people sitting nearest would burn themselves.  The wait staff tried to lower the flame down a number of times but it was either too high or too low.  They had to bring the cheese sauce back to the kitchen to be reheated until we had the flame all sorted out.  Unfortunately, though the cheese sauce was super yummy, it solidified rather quickly and we ended up with a cheese that looked liked a badly cooked scrambled eggs.
Maybe one of the reasons why the cheese solidified quickly was because of how wide the bowl is.  The flame from the small burner wasn't enough for the rather large surface area of the cheese.  If this is the case then a smaller order that is good for 4 for around P650 maybe be a better choice.
