Adopting

I had a plan.  I thought that by the time I reached the big four-o, and I'd go and adopt a child.  Forty for me was the "end" time.  I thought by the time I reached that grand old age, I'd have done everything that I've wanted to do while still single, I'd have reached my goals, in all aspects of my life, career-wise, financial, personal, traveled the world..... Boy, was I wrong!   I mean, I still joke about tying kids on a chair and putting a little alcohol in their milk to settle them down! What kind of parent would I be? Possibly one that is charged with child abuse, that's what!
I know adopting would be the most wonderful thing, but I also know that it is very selfish of me to adopt at this point in my life.  Emotionally and financially, I am not ready.  It would be mighty mighty selfish of me to bring a child in my life when I know I cannot commit to her 100%!  I hope someday soon, I'd be ready but for now,  I can just go about dreaming and working my way to be ready for the child that will borne from my heart.
I came across this video about what parents say about their experience with adoption. I found the clip to be very informative and not preachy, so I hope you enjoy it too.

To all the parents out there who chose to share their home with children not of their blood, Cheers to you!

Restaurante Pia Y Damaso

Pia Y Damaso has been around for a long time but I have not found myself wanting to try this restaurant out as I have heard some bad and lukewarm reviews about their food.

Theo & Philo Artisan Chocolates

Theo and Philo chocolates got my attention when a mentor was raving about having tried out the green mango and salt chocolate on his facebook page.  And for a person who was obsessed about the different flavors of Kitkat available in Japan, there was no way I was going to let this pass.

2nd's

My friends and I were at a lost on where to eat before heading home.  I have been hearing such rave reviews about 2nd's that we decided to try it out.

Taking out my balikbayan relatives for lunch, I brought them to my favorite eclectically designed Filipino restaurant, Cafe Juanita.

Maki House

I wrote about getting my maki fix at Bodhi about a month ago but the aunts are in town and they wanted the real thing - meaning real meat and not the veggie meat that I prefer eating.

Mabuhay Palace

Manila Hotel has been undergoing some renovations for some time.  My friends and I were curious to see what's new with this historical hotel and so we trooped to Manila Hotel after watching Varekai.

Bodhi

I love veggie meat.  In fact, more often than not, I prefer veggie meat to real meat.  And I always get my veggie meat fix at Bodhi.

Tokyo Tokyo

One Sunday afternoon, while waiting for my spa appointment, I was kind of feeling a bit peckish and wanted a quick bite but wasn't really interested in the usual fast food offerings.  I came across a Tokyo Tokyo branch in Greenbelt and said why not?

Kindermusic

I vaguely remember my preschool years.  The memory I have of my nursery was this big hall that had a low divider on one side that served as our "classroom" and a few toys.  I don't remember any activities I ever did there and I am pretty certain that my parents were not with me in school except to drop me off or pick me up in a calesa.  Preschool then and now are so different.  Today, preschool education/program is so diverse and so parent-involved that it's a whole different animal all together.  One such program being offered now to kids (and even newborns) is Kindermusic.

Looking for somewhere to grab a quick meal one evening before heading home, I chanced upon this  well lit, newly opened restaurant at the Eastwood mall called Chuck's Deli.

B & T (Burritos & Tacos) Mexican Kitchen

I was craving for some authentic Mexican food after seeing photos of a couple of my friends' recent trip to Mexico and a Mexican cooking show I have been watching lately hosted by Top Chef Masters Season 1 winner Rick Bayless.

Chelsea Market & Cafe

We celebrated T's birthday at Chelsea Market and Cafe in Serendra.  T, always on a look out for great deal and bargains, was able to buy coupons from Cashcashpinoy.  She got 7 coupons of P470 for P1000, that's a 53% saving on food and drinks!

Bite Club

Just a few days after a week spent on a boat with my friends where we were together almost 24/7, we were having separation anxiety from each other.  One friend suggested dinner at Bite Club after a previous discussion about it's burgers.

Rene's Saigon Restaurant

One must do on my list when I had a day in Puerto Princessa, Palawan was to try out their Vietnamese food.  Playing host to Vietnamese refugees during the American - Vietnamese war, Puerto Princessa has become synonymous to good authentic Vietnamese food.
